Curriculum/Assessments
At Meadow View Elementary, we use a variety of curriculums.
We use:
-iready math (Which is aligned with the iready testing and their lessons)
-Benchmark reading and writing (Core literacy curriculum)
-Benchmark phonics and UFLI (Whole and small group instruction in phonics)
-Heggerty (Phonemic Awareness)
-Artful learning units which encompass all science and social studies standards for kindergarten
Here is a link to the Colorado state standards for kindergarten if you would like to look at what our goals are for this school year! https://www.cde.state.co.us/standardsandinstruction/2020cas-k-guide
We also use a variety of assessments throughout the year to check on your child's progress.
We use:
-QPA (Quick Phonics Assessment given every month)
-Heggerty Assessments (Given 3 times per year)
-Reading/Writing Assessments through Benchmark (Given every month)
-Iready diagnostics in both reading and math which is also given 3 times per year (this is a state level assessment done on the ipad).
-End of unit creations for artful learning (various projects)
You child has lots of ways to showcase their learning!
TS Gold is another big assessment that is state level. This assessment helps teachers determine kindergarten readiness. Teachers will collect informal data on your child and report it on TS Gold and share the report in you around October.
